Join as a governor

  • Do you have an interest in acquiring new skills in a friendly environment?
  • Have you considered that contributing to this school could be a very rewarding experience?
  • Are you curious to know what makes this school thrive and operate successfully?
  • Do you have ideas on how we could improve?

If so, please consider being a Governor at Warlingham School & Sixth Form College.

Governors are not necessarily who you think they are, some are parents, some with commercial backgrounds, some are members of the community with its interests at their heart. Very few come with any background educational experience, but they all bring different personal and professional knowledge and skills which can be beneficial and valuable to the local governing committee.

Warlingham is keen to encourage parents, carers and members of the wider school community to become involved, to help us make even more progress towards delivering outstanding learning outcomes for all the children in school.

To enhance our effectiveness we are particularly keen to find people who can bring any of the following skills and experience to the team:

  • Law
  • Human Resources
  • Accountancy / Financial Services
  • Risk Management and Audit
  • Health and Safety
  • Facilities and Premises
  • Wellbeing
  • Secondary phase education
  • Asking challenging questions
  • A good dose of common sense

We ask you to commit to attending one training event per term so that you can provide the challenge to the school that the role of local governor demands.  We also require you to be able to attend two main meetings per term, which take place at 6pm on a midweek evening in school. Governors also undertake termly visits to the school to review progress on the School Improvement Plan and other school policy initiatives.

If you would like to explore joining the governing team, do please contact our Clerk, Catriona Sanderson by email: and she will be delighted to provide you with more information.  If you would like the opportunity to talk this over without obligation, she can arrange a conversation with our Chair of Governors.

Come and join our team, work hard, enjoy the camaraderie and help to make a positive difference here at Warlingham.
