First Monday of the Month Music Recital

We were excited to hold our First Monday of the Month Music Recital at lunchtime on Monday 7th November from three of our Year 12 BTEC Music Performance students.

The recital was held in M11 and students and staff were invited to come along to support the students over lunch. Parvesh played Tourner Dans Le Vide by Indila on piano, Joey played Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You on guitar and Rosie sang Headspace by Lewis Capaldi. A big thank you to our talented musicians for their fantastic performances and to our students and staff who supported them.

Our next First Monday of the Month Music Recital will feature the Warlingham School Choir led by Miss Searle and accompanied by Mr Duff on Monday 10th December at 13.45pm.

Here's what our Year 12 students had to say about their performances.

The piece I did 'Tourner Dans La Vide' went well. I was nervous at first butPhoto of Year 12 Student on Piano as I played, I started to regain confidence. The performance was fluent with minor mistakes but, overall, carried on and put tone into it. If I did it again, I would add more dynamics, especially on the chorus to make it louder, and, in the verse, I would make it a little quieter.

My performance went well, I was confident and not nervous because I had practised the song manyPhoto of Year 12 Student on Guitar times. Although I made I few small mistakes during the piece, the overall performance went very well. If I was to do the performance again, I would have used a different loop pedal that I own because I lost the power cable a few days before the performance so I had to do my performance differently to what I had originally planned. The other pedal would have allowed me to have more control over individual parts of the loop, for example, taking the chords out during the verse but keeping the drum and bass.

I really enjoyed performing on Monday, even though I was very nervous about it. It was the largestPhoto of Year 12 Student Singing group of people I have performed in front of, but lots of my friends were there to support me, which I really appreciated. I think the next time I perform, I will not be as nervous and, therefore, I will be better, however I am still proud of myself.
