Choosing Options in Year 9 can seem like a daunting process. Making a decision and choosing which subjects to study in Years 10 and 11 needs thought to ensure you make the right choices.  In order to do this, we aim to provide the information you need about both the qualifications we offer and the next steps you have planned.

Students will be able to learn more about the subjects on offer during their normal timetabled lessons, with new subjects being covered during assembly time.  Details of the process and what you will need to select will also be covered in assemblies. 

On Wedneday 11th February 2026, parents and carers, along with their Year 9 child, will have the opportunity to attend our Options Evening, the aim of which is to ensure that the process of selection is understood and that parents /carers and students have the opportunity to discuss their choices with subject teachers.

In the video below, Mrs Watts, Deputy Headteacher, gives a presentation which includes an overview of the Options process.  We suggest parents watch this video prior to attending the Options Fair on the evening of 11th February.  Please respect the staggered arrival times that will be communicated to parents.

The Year 9 Options booklet provides further detail and guidance regarding the process and information about the content and assessment model for each of the courses.  You can view the Year 9 Options information booklet by clicking the box below.  Once you've done that, you will have the option to download it, should you prefer to read it offline.

Once students and parents / carers have decided which options are preferred for next year, the students will need to complete the Options Form.  This form will also be emailed to all students and their parents / carers.  Please note that all forms must be returned by Monday 15th March 2026.
