The Bridge: Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub
The needs of young people are becoming increasingly complex, with schools seeing a growing demand for support relating to emotional wellbeing, mental health, behaviour, attendance and engagement with learning. At Warlingham School, we recognise that effective support must be timely, accessible and responsive to the individual needs of each student.

The Bridge provides a nurturing and supportive environment where students can access a range of targeted interventions designed to promote wellbeing, resilience and successful engagement in school life. Through a full-time counselling programme, specialist post-16 support, individual and group interventions, and partnerships with external agencies including Learning Space, Barnardo's and Surrey Mindworks, we are able to offer a comprehensive package of support for students and families.
Central to this provision is our close collaboration with the school's Needs Team, enabling us to provide a diverse and flexible support network that responds to the developing needs of all students. By working together, we ensure that academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs are identified early and addressed through coordinated, personalised interventions.
The strength of our approach has been recognised externally through our designation as a Challenge Partners Area of Excellence for Mental Health and Wellbeing, reflecting the high-quality support, inclusive practice and strong culture of care that underpin our work. This recognition reinforces our commitment to ensuring that every student feels safe, valued and equipped to succeed.
The Bridge is closely aligned with the priorities identified within the evolving Ofsted framework, which places increasing emphasis on inclusion, attendance, belonging, personal development and the experiences of vulnerable learners. Our approach ensures that students receive the support they need to engage positively with school, develop confidence and resilience, and participate fully in both learning and wider school life. By focusing on early intervention and removing barriers to success, The Bridge helps create the conditions in which all students can thrive.
The Bridge also plays an important role in developing staff expertise and strengthening our wider culture of inclusion. Through ongoing training, including Mental Health First Aid and other specialist professional development opportunities, we continue to build capacity across the school to support positive wellbeing and successful outcomes for all learners.
As demand for specialist support continues to grow both locally and nationally, The Bridge represents an important investment in early intervention, inclusion and belonging. By bringing together internal expertise and external partnerships, we are creating a sustainable model of support that enables students to overcome barriers, remain connected to education and achieve their full potential. In doing so, we are supporting Warlingham School's vision of ensuring every student is known, valued and empowered to succeed, while delivering on both national expectations and our own commitment to excellence in inclusive education.
