Behaviour, Bullying & Reporting Concerns

We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment where every student can learn and feel valued. We work in partnership with families to promote positive behaviour and respond quickly to concerns.

Our approach to behaviour (not collapsed)

  • We have high expectations based on respect, kindness and responsibility
  • Positive behaviour is recognised and celebrated
  • Clear routines help ensure a calm, disruption-free environment
  • Where needed, we use fair consequences alongside support
  • We use restorative approaches to repair relationships and move forward positively

We recognise that behaviour can reflect underlying needs and provide additional support where appropriate.

bullying & harassment

We have a zero-tolerance approach to bullying.

Bullying is behaviour that is repeated and intentional, causing harm.

It can include:

  • Verbal (name-calling, teasing)
  • Physical (pushing, hitting)
  • Social (exclusion, rumours)
  • Online (cyberbullying)

All incidents are:

  • Taken seriously
  • Investigated quickly
  • Followed up with support and appropriate action
  • Reviewed to ensure concerns are resolved

how to report concerns

Students and families are encouraged to speak up early.

Students can:

  • Talk to a trusted adult, tutor or Head of Year
  • Use: reportit@warlinghamtlt.co.uk

Parents/carers can:

  • Contact the school (tutor, Head of Year or safeguarding team)

what happens next?

When a concern is raised, we will:

  • Ensure immediate safety and support
  • Investigate and gather information
  • Work with families
  • Apply proportionate consequences where needed
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up

SEND - additional guidance for parents & carers

Some children with SEND may:

  • Find it harder to recognise bullying or report concerns
  • Experience behaviour as a result of unmet needs or anxiety
  • Be more vulnerable to bullying or social difficulties

We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and respond with both high support and high expectations

How we support students with SEND:

  • Individualised strategies and behaviour support plans where needed
  • Adapted approaches and reasonable adjustments
  • Close collaboration between SEND, pastoral and safeguarding teams
  • A graduated approach (assess–plan–do–review) to ensure support is tailored

What can help at home:

  • Talk regularly about friendships and how to get help
  • Reinforce clear, simple expectations about behaviour
  • Practise how to report concerns and who to go to
  • Share any concerns early so we can work together
