As we come to the end of an extremely busy half-term in which the students in Year 11 and 13 have started their GCSE, A Level and vocational exams, it is an opportune moment to reflect upon the work that has been done to prepare students for success in their academic qualifications and beyond that. Our commitment to developing the students in terms of their learning alongside developing character, leadership and confidence couldn’t be better epitomised by the paired reading scheme that I was privileged to visit earlier this term. To see our Sixth Form College students working closely with students in Year 7 to support and grow their confidence in reading (such an essential aspect of being able to succeed at school and in life) was fantastic. To witness the positive relationships across the years that this has facilitated as a by-product is something that I am excited for us to build on in the future next term and next year. Well done to all those involved in this excellent scheme.

Students this term have also been widening their horizons with visits to France and Salamanca and, closer to home, with Duke of Edinburgh award scheme expeditions. Moreover, they have been looking to their future and setting high aspirations with visits to the Sixth Form College in Year 10, our Futures First Careers Fair and Oxbridge talks for students. There is much to look forward to to build on these fantastic opportunities in the second half of this term, but I would like to finish with wishing the students in Year 11 and 13 the very best of luck in their remaining examinations and for the bright futures I know their hard work, courage, commitment and kindness have ahead of them.  Much of this is set by the support and commitment of their families and I would like to thank you for your support of the students and wish you a relaxing and enjoyable half-term break.
