College Welcomes Prospective Year 12 Students on Induction Days
On Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th July, Warlingham Sixth Form College was delighted to welcome our prospective Year 12 students for their Induction Days to give them an insight into what life as a College student will be like when they join us in September.
We started the day with an introductory talk from the College Team, followed by a Subject Fair in the Sports Hall, where the prospective students had the opportunity to speak to our current Year 12s about their choices and were offered advice about what each course entails. There was a real buzz around the Sports Hall which certainly helped students to make their decisions.
Over the rest of the two days, the students were able to sample a variety of taster lessons in their chosen subjects and there was really positive feedback from all those involved. It was wonderful to see so many Warlingham students attend, as well as new students from a variety of local schools who were able to spend time in our College Centre using the computers for independent study or making themselves at home with a cup of tea during their breaks. There was also a chance to speak to current students who were more than happy to offer their words of wisdom for success, as well as provide them with an insight into our enrichment courses including Duke of Edinburgh, Debating and EPQ.
Transition from Year 11 into Year 12
The College Team also spoke to students about the importance of preparing for the transition from GCSE to A Level and Level 3 BTECs. To help students prepare for the start of their courses in September, each subject has created a range of tasks which are all available on the ‘Bridging the Gap’ section of our website here. Teachers will be looking forward to seeing the work students have done when they return in September.
GCSE Results Day
We hope students have a great summer and wish them all the best for their Results Day on 24th August. When students receive their results, they should check their emails and log on to our online application system to confirm their grades and subject choices for Post-16 Study. The College Team will then review their application and be in touch to confirm their place at Warlingham Sixth Form College. The team will also be in school on Results Day on 24th August, as well as 25th August and 30th August to enrol students, so they are welcome to come into school on these days if they have any questions. We look forward to welcoming students back to the College in September for the start of their course, where we’re confident they will be very happy and successful in their studies.
