Bridging the Gap - Life After College

The fifth module in our “Bridging the Gap” programme, is designed to support students in their choice of next steps after College.

This section explains the support and resources provided for students to research and access their university, apprenticeship, school leaver programme or employment of choice. The College prides itself on the one-to-one support and guidance provided to ensure all of our students can progress into their desired next steps, and we have a dedicated member of the college leadership team who overseas this support.

In this video, Reece talks about his experience and the encouragement and support he received at the College.

Transition into Year 12 begins by asking students to consider their Visions and Goals as part of the VESPA approach adopted in College.  Activities can be accessed below which will encourage students to begin to consider and research what their visions and goals might look like.

Once a vision or goal is established, we begin to provide students with information about the many opportunities that are available to them and ask them to consider what areas may be most suitable for them.  Assemblies and “inspire” sessions will be regularly focussed on careers, and students will be encouraged to research using a number of useful tools which can be accessed below.

From the outset in Year 12, we will be encouraging all of our students to get fully involved in volunteering as part of our Advanced Award and enrichment programme, but also to be accessing the “super curriculum” activities that demonstrate their passion for their subject and potential future careers in areas such as law and medicine. The action planning tool and the Russell Group competitive applications support activities can all be accessed via the links in the table below.

Unifrog

Unifrog is an integral part to careers development during students' two years in college. Existing Warlingham students can use their Unifrog log from the main school. Students new to Warlingham can sign up at www.unifrog.org.  You will be asked to register using a form code which is 'SCYBLeaver23' and then you will need to fill in the required fields such as name, email address and create a memorable password before clicking 'Sign up'.  Please remember which email address and password you use as you will need these to log on from this point. Should any student have forgotten their password or cannot access Unifrog, please contact the College Team for support and to obtain logons via the admissions email. Please click here to email admissions or copy this email address into your email client: admissions@warlinghamsixthform.co.uk

Students can access the personality profile on Unifrog, which will steer them towards a number of courses and careers that may suit their personality.  The Unifrog subjects' library treasure hunt is another good activity to try as it will begin to get students to explore the hundreds of videos and resources that are available on Unifrog to give advice on career progression. Unifrog also provides a really detailed and useful careers goal setting and year plan tool with a wide variety of activities students can access now, especially if they are considering a highly competitive university, apprenticeship or school-leaver programme. You can access all these tools through the links below.

Spartan

Students will also be encouraged to take the Spartan Test which will suggest certain university courses and careers they could research.  To access the spartan test, students have to initially register on the site and the link can be found below.

Please contact Mrs Langley (L.Langley@WarlinghamTLT.co.uk) if you have any specific careers-related questions.
